I am an artist who produces work inspired by land, seascapes and natural forms. I am constantly trying to capture something of the atmosphere of the natural environment that I encounter through the different seasons.
Much of my inspiration comes through my local landscape, the Peak District, or along the beaches and coast of the LLyn Peninsular. I also bring into my work my love for the natural forms of wild plants and flowers.
I use my inspiration to create work in the mediums of printmaking, painting and drawing.
In my print making, I create layers and textures to reflect light, movement and form. I apply ink to plates, wiping, scraping and manipulating it, then paper is placed over the plate and is passed though a printing press. Then I transfer the images from photographs have taken, or drawings I have made onto a screen and print over the mono print. With the process of mono printing each print is unique, and certain elements cannot be controlled. I also draw into the print or use metal leaf within the image.
My paintings are created in a similar way to my prints, building up layers of tone and light.
I work predominantly in acrylics and water mixable oils on canvas and wooden panels.
Drawing and sketching is an integral part of my process, to use in a final piece of work, or for inspiration.
